India U19 Defeat Sri Lanka U19 by 211 Runs to Win Multi-Day Series 1-0

The India Under-19 cricket team achieved a dominant 211-run victory over Sri Lanka Under-19 in the second multi-day match in Colombo. With the first match ending in a draw, this win allowed the Indian team to secure the two-match Youth Test series 1-0.

Manal Chauhan was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance with the bat across both innings. Batting first, India U19 posted a strong first-innings total of 411 runs. Manal Chauhan played a crucial role, scoring a brilliant 150 runs off 244 balls, which included 20 boundaries and a six.

He received great support from Kushagra Ojha, who scored 111 runs. Together, they shared a key 155-run partnership for the fourth wicket to give India complete control of the match. In response, Sri Lanka U19 struggled against a disciplined Indian bowling attack and were dismissed for just 148 runs in their first innings.

India U19 Tighten Grip As Lakshya Slams Unbeaten Century

Indian bowlers maintained constant pressure, giving their team a massive first-innings lead of 263 runs. Rather than enforcing the follow-on, India U19 batted again to extend their lead. In the second innings, opener Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani scored a fine unbeaten century (100*), while Manal Chauhan continued his fine form with a quick unbeaten 51 off 46 balls.

India declared their second innings at 208/3, setting Sri Lanka a formidable target of 472 runs for victory. Chasing a daunting target, Sri Lanka U19 showed better resilience in their second attempt but were ultimately bowled out for 260 runs.

Senuja Wekunagoda and captain Vimath Dinsara scored 64 runs each, but their efforts were not enough. Indian bowler Rohit Yadav led the bowling attack in the final innings by taking four wickets, supported by Chigurupati Venkata who claimed three wickets.

This victory highlighted India U19’s overall superiority in both batting and bowling departments throughout the match. Manal Chauhan’s standout aggregate of 201 runs in the match earned him well-deserved praise and the Player of the Match trophy.
