Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has suggested one change for the Indian team heading into the final T20I in Kolkata. India have already won the series 2-0 winning the first two games in Jaipur and Ranchi. The Kiwis, on the other hand, will look to salvage a win and get some pride heading into the Test series.

Talking to Star Sports Gautam Gambhir has suggested one change for India in the game. He said that the management can bring in Avesh Khan in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Avesh took 24 wickets from 16 games and was the second-highest wicket-taker after Harshal Patel’s 32 wickets for RCB.

Gautam Gambhir Wants BCCI To Include Avesh Khan In Kolkata T20I

“From a bowling point of view they can actually rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar and look at Avesh Khan. It will suit him especially the wicket in Kolkata, it’s got pace and bounce. So I would definitely want to see Avesh playing that game. He has got pace and you got to test him on the international stage when you got the series in your bag. So that is one change they can look towards,” Gambhir said.

Harshal Patel and Venkatesh Iyer have already been handed debut caps to India in the series. Avesh might become the third player to make his debut in the series. With the side looking to test their bench strength this might well be a possibility.

Gambhir has also asked Team India to play ruthless cricket in the final T20I. He backed India to chase in the game and finish it off in style.

“You still have to be ruthless and try to wrap up the series 3-0. But no point putting pressure on yourself,” he added.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had his say when questioned on rotation policy and testing the bench strength in the series. The weight behind the question was Yuzvendra Chahal’s non-selection in the series so far.

“It is a young team and the guys haven’t played a lot of games. It is important that the guys get time in the middle. It is early to think about changes in the next game. Whatever suits team India, we’ll do that. We need to make sure we look after the guys who are playing now. They haven’t played a lot either. For the guys who haven’t played, their time will come, there are a lot of T20s” said Rohit.
