Indian batsman KL Rahul has hit the nets after recovering from the shoulder injury he sustained earlier in the year which made him miss IPL and Champions Trophy. The 25-year-old underwent a surgery on his injured shoulder in England during April.
Rahul had a good series with the bat last time when he played for India. He scored 393 including 6 fifties in 4 tests vs Australia in February-March. Having cemented his place in the Test side as an opener, the right-hander is targeting Sri Lanka series to make a comeback. India plays 3 tests, 5 ODIS, and 1 T20I against Sri Lanka in July-August this year.
After making his debut in 2014, he slowly started making his mark as an opener in 2015. Rahul had a fantastic 2016 for India with the bat becoming the second batsman after Suresh Raina to score hundreds in all formats of the game. He also became first Indian to score hundred on ODI debut for India (vs Zimbabwe at Harare).
With Shikhar Dhawan”s dip in form, the grand home season of 2016 gave him a great opportunity to cement his place in the Indian side. The season did not begin on a good note as he was injured in the first game itself and had to be out of action for close 2 months. He returned in the England series scoring 199 in 5th test at Chennai and had a hot and cold run in limited over matches after that.
KL Rahul suffered a shoulder injury in the series against Australia and subsequently missed IPL and Champions Trophy and tour to West Indies.
Rahul has emerged as one of the most promising names to come from India in recent times and the onus is on hin to deliver consistently for India with the bat.
