The men and the women squads of Indian cricket team began their hard quarantine before boarding the UK flight on June 2 for the England tour. While the men’s side will play the WTC final and a Test series against England, the Indian and the British eves face off in a series too. Meanwhile bot the sides have started an 8-day hard quarantine at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai located near the international airport. India captain Virat Kohli, his white-ball deputy Rohit Sharma and head coach Ravi Shastri joined the England-bound squad’s bio-bubble on Tuesday as the quarantine phase began.

The teams are expected to fly out on June 2 for the Englan tour after all the playing and non-playing members return with three negative RT-PCR results.

Players Start Hard Quarantine For England Tour

“Wriddhiman and Prasidh Krishna joined the bubble two days back after recovering fully from COVID-19. Mumbaikars like Virat, Rohit and coach Shastri have all now joined the bubble,” a BCCI source confirmed.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is yet to take a call on allowing the families of the players on the England tour. However, the BCCI is confident of getting a positive result on the same soon.

“We can’t have our players being away from their families for three months and that too in a bubble. That’s never great for mental health,” the source said.

On the other hand,  the ECB has already confirmed that the rescheduling of the Test matches is not possible. They further said that the BCCI did not send any formal request for a change in the schedule as well. There were reports of the BCCI requesting the ECB to change the Tets series schedule to fit in the remaining IPL schedule but the opposition board has denied such rumors.

India play the WTC final against New Zealand from June 18-22 after which they play a five-match Test series from August 1. The matches will be played at Trent Bridge, Lords, Headingly, The Oval and Manchester.
