Indian Skipper Virat Kohli Takes First Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccine

Indian skipper Virat Kohli got himself vaccinated on Monday and shared a post on his Instagram account to let his fans know. In the process, he urged all others to get vaccinated as well if they have the chance. Virat and Anuska Sharma has started COVID relief work after IPL 2021 was postponed by the BCCI. Apart from Virat, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane also got themselves vaccinated.

Recently, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma in India’s Covid-19 fight. The couple donated a generous Rs 2 Cr towards the Covid-19 relief.

“Anushka and I have started a campaign on to raise funds for Covid-19 relief, and we would be grateful for your support. Let’s all come together and help those around us in need of our support. I urge you all to join our movement” wrote Virat on his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Kohli was back in Mumbai after the Indian Premier League 2021 was suspended in the wake of the Covid-19 surge across the country. Reports suggest that India will not host the remaining 31 matches. Several countries like UAE, UK, and Sri Lanka are in the fray to host the remainder of the season as and when it resumes.

Meanwhile, the BCCI announced India’s 20-member squad for the World Test Championship final followed by the England series. Several test regulars made a comeback to the squad while there were some surprising omissions as well.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly also confirmed that India will be touring to Sri Lanka in July for three ODIs and five T20Is. Sri Lanka will be playing 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against Eoin Morgan’s side in England and the tour comes to an end on July 4. Meanwhile, the test series between India and England also starts from August 4. This means that there is a month’s window for the series against Sri Lanka to be played.

Considering the strict travel restrictions in place due to COVID for the players it might so happen that BCCI might announce a second-string Indian squad for the series.
