Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin Ruled Out Of Deodhar Trophy

Ravichandran Ashwin India”s spin stalwart will miss the D.B. Deodhar Trophy that is to be played soon.

Ashwin will miss the tournament because of a “niggle” as said by the selection committee. And has been advised a week”s rest.

Ashwin was actually announced a day earlier as the captain of India A side that is to participate in the competition with India B and the current Vijay Hazare Trophy winner Karnataka.

His absence will mean that Ashwin won”t get some invaluable captaincy time before actually leading the Kings XI Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League season this year.

Him missing the tournament has led to certain changes in the two squads of India A & B announced by the BCCI senior selection committee.

The selectors have included Shahbaz Nadeem as his replacement and have drafted in Maharashtra batsman, Ankit Bawne from India B to lead India A. In other movements, Akshdeep Nath has been swapped to India B to facilitate the change.

The five-day Deodhar Trophy is set to start on Sunday (March 4) at Dharamsala, where Vijay Hazare champions, Karnataka would take on India A and India B.
