Indian Test wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has been out of action for a while. Injuries are really keeping him away from the game and denting his performances in all the formats of the game.
His thumb injury had hindered his performance towards the end of the Indian Premier League 2018. However, his injury costed a lot when the squad for the England series was announced. After being out of the historic Afghanistan one-off test, his exclusion from the much-anticipated series really raised eyebrows as fans were puzzled about the extent of the injury.

Later, it was found that his shoulder isn”t really ready to lead his way to the field. It really impacted his progress and the 33-year old is all set to undergo a surgery in England. He will be leaving Manchester alongside NCA physio Yogesh Parmar on July 30. The surgery will take place in the first week of August and he will return the country after a couple of weeks.
Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been named the wicketkeepers for this tour and all eyes will be on them if they can cement their spots in the absence of Saha.
Nonetheless, a healthy competition among the three will really be a boon to the Indian cricket as they continue to dominate the longest format of the game.
