Indian women’s team skipper Mithali Raj to be gifted this luxury sedan

The girl from Jodhpur who led India to the finals of the Women’s World Cup will be presented with a BMW car on her arrival. Chamundeswaranath, former chairman of selectors of the Indian junior team and the current vice-president of Telangana Badminton Association will present Mithali Raj with a brand new BMW car after her Galactic performance in the World Cup scoring 3 fifties and a century.

Chamundi, as he is known, has presented several cars to sportspersons for their heroics in their individual discipline made this announcement on Sunday despite India losing the final against England by 9 runs.

According to him, Raj will be felicitated for her immense contribution to the Indian cricket for 17 years. However, the date and time regarding the felicitation will be revealed soon.

Way back in 2007, Chamundi presented a Chevrolet car to Mithali, but after her performance in the recently concluded World Cup, Chamundi said she deserves much better. “Mithali has been a great influence on Indian cricket. The way she has led the side is remarkable. For a number of years she has been the leading light of the Indian women”s cricket,” he said while talking to TOI. He also said that women’s cricket requires a lot of encouragement.

The former skipper of the Andhra Ranji team continued, “Our girls are performing quite well. We need to encourage women”s cricket in a big way. I think with their brilliant show in England they have brought a lot of attention to the women”s game. More girls will be inspired to take up cricket now,”

Meanwhile, the Indian Railways has also decided to acknowledge the outstanding performance of the players by giving them a surprise promotion, as revealed by R.S.R. Murthy, coach-cum-mentor of  Mithali Raj from South Central Railway.
