IndvNZ ODI Series Preview: Dominant Indian team take on the wounded Kiwis

After inflicting a Whitewash in the test series, India will be looking forward to lock horns with the kiwis in the upcoming  5 ODIs. Team India looked in total command in the recently concluded test series where the tormented and outsmarted the Islanders in all the departments. But can they give a fight back and salvage some pride ? That time would tell when the 2 nations would fight for glory in the venues below :

1stODI: 16th  October at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
2ndODI: 20th  October at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
3rdODI: 23rd  October at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.
4thODI: 26th  October at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
5thODI: 29th  October at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

India is set to play in the ODI format after a break of 3 months. The last series India had played was against Zimbabwe back in June where India had whitewashed them with a margin of 3-0 under the Captaincy of M.S Dhoni who toured along with many youngsters.

Squads :

India ( First 3 ODIs): M.S Dhoni (c/wk), JaspritBumrah, KedarJadhav, ViratKohli, DhawalKulkarni, Mandeep Singh, Amit Mishra, Manish Pandey, HardikPandya, Axar Patel, AjinkyaRahane, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, JayantYadav, UmeshYadav

New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Anton Devcich, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Santner, IshSodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, BJ Watling (wk).

According to reports, Suresh Raina wouldn’t be featuring in the 1st ODI which will be played at Dharmshala due to illness. Interestingly ,KedarJadhav is given a place in the ODI squad and he would be anxious to get a game and cement a side in the limited overs side. The spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja are rested for the first 3 ODI’s which will make Anit Mishra and Axarpatel the torch bearers for India’s spin attack and a lot is expected from the experienced Mishra and the rookie Axar.

Team India has never lost a ODI series to New Zealand when they play in India. The last outing of New Zealand in 2010 was quite horrendous as they lost with a margin of 5-0 to the hosts and they’d be looking forward to break India’s streak and gaining some positives from the tour.

New Zealand are placed 3rd in the ODI rankings with 113 points whereas, India are placed 4th on the table with 110 points which gives the Islanders a morale & a psychological  boost ahead of the series.
