The second One day International between India and West Indies ended in a thrilling tie played at Vizag on Wednesday. A great captain knock by Virat Kohli, contributions from Rayudu helped India post 321 for 6. West Indies almost chased down the target as the match was tied.
Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a disappointing start for the hosts as they lost Rohit Sharma cheaply for just 4 runs. Shikhar Dhawan looked in good touch with some positive strokes. Ashley Nurse dismissed Dhawan for 29 with a successful review. At the end of 10 overs, India scored 49 for 2. The Indian captain Virat Kohli and Rayudu steadied the Indian innings with some positive batting. Kohli played according to the situation reaching his half-century off 56 balls while Rayudu too completed his fifty off 61 balls.
Rayudu and Virat Kohli added 139 runs for the third wicket. Rayudu was dismissed for 73. Virat Kohli by scoring 81 runs, completed fastest 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. MS Dhoni struggled to time the ball and added 43 runs for the 5th wicket with Virat Kohli. MS Dhoni was dismissed by McCoy for 20. Pant also came to the crease and scored 17 off 13 balls.

Virat Kohli reached his 37th ODI century off 106 balls and then took on West Indies bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli added 59 runs for the 6th wicket. Kohli reached his 150 off 128 balls, remaining not out on 157 off 129 balls. India scored 321 for 6 at end of 50 overs. For West Indies, Ashley Nurse and McCoy picked 2 wickets each while Roach and Samuels 1 each.
Chasing 322 runs to win, West Indies openers Powell and Hemraj got the team off to a decent start adding 36 runs for the first wicket in 6.1 overs. Mohammad Shami dismissed Powell for 18. Hemraj played with positive intent scoring 32 off 24 balls. At the end of 10 overs, West Indies raced to 72 for 2. After the power play overs, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Marlon Samuels for 13.
Hetymer and Shai Hope played with positive intent putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. Hetymer continued his impressive form as he made life tough for hosts. The hard-hitting left-handed batsman reached a half-century off 41 balls and Hope reached his fifty off 64 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal got the big wicket of Hetymer for 94 ending a brilliant 143 runs to stand for the 4th wicket.
Rovman Powell played decently scoring 18 off 18 balls before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. The Indian bowlers kept the pressure on Hope and Holder. Hope reached his century off 113 balls. Shami gave away just 6 runs in the 49th over. With 14 runs required off the last over, Umesh Yadav picked the wicket of Nurse. With 5 runs required off the final ball, Hope hit a boundary to tie the match.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of bowlers with 3 for 67 while Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal took 1 wicket each.

West Indies captain Jason Holder said: The run out of me and Hetymer wicket changed the momentum of the game. Hope also played brilliantly in a high pressure, showed character. India got a par total. We were sloppy on the field. McCoy has lots of variety and could be identified as a death bowler.
Captain and Man of the match Virat Kohli said: A great game of cricket with a full house. Hetymer and Hope played brilliantly after they were 3 down. The pitch in the second innings changed as we were looking 275-280 runs but got extra runs. Chahal bowled a brilliant over and Umesh Yadav just went away with a Yorker.
India still leads the series 1-0. The third match will be played on 27th October at MCA Stadium, Pune.
