INDvWI: Rohit and Rayudu centuries help India register big win in the 4th ODI

It was a dominating performance by the Indian team to register a massive win against West Indies in the 4th One day international played at CCI, Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai just finished a few minutes ago. Rohit Sharma and Rayudu big partnership provided a solid foundation for big total helping team India post a massive total, then defended the target with ease.

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got the team off to a flying start putting on 50 runs stand in just 48 balls. Both openers scored 56 runs at the end of 10 overs. After the power play overs, both of them continued to play with positive intent. Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed for 38 runs as openers added 71 runs for the first wicket.

For the first time in the series, Indian captain Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply for 16 runs. Rohit and Kohli added 30 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rohit Sharma then took on the responsibility of playing a long innings reaching his half-century off 60 balls while Rayudu also played with positive intent putting the West Indies bowlers under pressure.

Rayudu reached his half-century off 51 balls. Both Rohit Sharma continued to take singles and hit bad balls away for boundaries. Sharma reached his 21st century in ODI cricket off 98 balls. It was a great exhibition of batting by both Indian batsmen.

Rohit Sharma then made the batting look easy with his attacking stroke play and reached his 150 off 131 balls. Rayudu and Rohit Sharma added a massive 211 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 162 off 137 balls.

Rayudu completed his century off 80 balls and was run out. Dhoni played a cameo knock scoring 23 off 15 balls. Rohit Sharma registered his 7th 150 plus total in ODI cricket. Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja added 22 unbeaten runs to help India post a massive total of 377 for 5 in 50 overs. For West Indies, Kemar Roach took 2 for 74.

Chasing 378 runs to win, Hemraj and Powell began well adding 20 runs for the first wicket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Hemraj for 14. Kieron Powell and Shai Hope were dismissed in quick succession to leave West Indies in big trouble at 20 for 3. At the end of 10 overs, West Indies made 45 for 4.

After the power play overs, the Indian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and did not allow West Indies to make runs easily. West Indies captain Jason Holder was the only batsman to provide some resistance reaching his half-century off 61 balls. India bowled out West Indies for 153 in 36.2 overs. For India, Khaleel Ahmed took 3 for 13 in 5 overs and Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets for 42 runs in 8.2 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1 wicket each and 2 West Indies batsmen were run out.

West Indies 153 in 36.2 overs ( Jason Holder 54*, Khaleel Ahmed 3/13, Kuldeep Yadav 3/42) by 224 runs

West Indies captain Jason Holder said: We did not play well enough and allowed too many runs. Lost wickets at regular intervals and did not get momentum. Need to see our balance and would be looking to perform much better in the next game.

Indian captain Virat Kohli said: Back on the track after losing the 3rd One-day internationals. Ticked all the boxes and happy to bounce back well. Rayudu has performed extremely well and needs to back him till the 2019 World Cup. If the pitch has something offer, then Khaleel Ahmed can extract something.

Man of the match Rohit Sharma said: a Very clinical performance from us after losing 2 early wickets. The big partnership was the game changer which helped India to post a massive total. It was a great performance as pacers were swinging the ball and the spinners also turned the ball.

With this win, India leads the series 2-1. The fifth and final ODI match will be played on Thiruvanthurpam on 1st November.
