Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam Ul Haq has praised Team India’s depth and bench strength ahead of their upcoming series. Two different sets of Indian squads will be playing at the same time in between June to August. The BCCI have already announced the squad for the WTC final and the England series. They will announce the Indian squads for the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka where they play three ODIs and T20Is.
Inzamam Ul Haq said India have fifty players ready for the national team while crediting the IPL and the strong domestic structure in the country.
“This idea of assembling a second Indian team is very interesting What India are trying to do today, Australia did this years ago, but they were not able to be successful in it. But the scenario today is such that India appear to be pulling it off. For the first time I think it is happening that a national cricket team will be playing two different series. One side in one country and the other side in some other country, and both are national teams,” Inzamam said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
Inzamam further reckoned that there won’t be much difference in the quality of the two Indian teams that will be in action simultaneously and stated that the second-string squad heading to Sri Lanka looks as strong as the main side.

“India at this time has so much strength that they are capable of doing this. Their pool of players is so huge that they are able to manage this. If you look at the players who would be travelling to Sri Lanka, it would appear as if this is India’s main team, such is their bench strength,” said Inzamam.
India will be playing the WTC final between June 18-22. Thereafter they play a five-match Test series against England starting August 4.In between India will play a limited-overs series in Sri Lanka which will coincide with the Test series.
