The 26-year-old all-rounder has represented NZ in all three formats of the game in the recent years and has been a permanent member of the playing XI. He amassed over 1000 runs and 100 wickets across the internationals.
Frontline NZ all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been ruled of the test series against England and the IPL due to a knee injury. The injury will keep him apart from the sport for a period of 6-9 months.
Todd Astle has been named as his replacement for the test series. No official announcement regarding his replacement for the squad has been announced from the CSK franchise.
Santner played a phenomenal role in the ODI series against England in the lower middle order providing some valuable knocks.
He is expected to undergo a surgery in his right knee by this week. This injury also rules out Mitch from the County cricket.
Speaking to the media, NZ coach Mike Hesson said, “Mitchell is a key player in all three formats for us, so we”ll certainly miss him in the upcoming series. It”s important though that he gets this fixed and we have him back for what is a big next 18 months for us. “
Santner was bought by CSK earlier in January for a base price of 50 lakhs. Santner, who was expected to make his IPL debut will still have to wait for the opportunity.
We wish Santner a speedy recovery.
