IPL 2018: Big Blow For Delhi Daredevils ahead of the 11th edition

Delhi Daredevils have suffered a major bowler as their star bowler Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the entire Indian Premier League season 11 starting from 7th April 2018. The South African young speedster was bought by Delhi franchise for RS 4.2 Crores.

Rabada will not play for three months due to a lower back stress reaction. The number 1 ranked bowler in test matches was named as man of the series during the recently concluded test series between South Africa and Australia. He took 23 wickets from 4 test matches and led South Africa to first series win over Australia on South African shores.

Kagiso Rabada made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils last year. He played only 6 matches and took 6 wickets with an economy of 8.81 runs per over. Rabada made his international debut for South Africa in 2015 and has been impressed with his speed, length and accuracy. He was a part of winning squad which won the Under 19 World Cup held in 2014.

He made his T20I debut for South Africa against Australia in 2014.

In the 30 test matches so far, Rabada has picked 143 wickets with 5 wickets in an innings nine times and 10 wickets in a match 4 times. Along with the South African pace bowler took so far, he has taken 75 wickets from 48 matches in One-day internationals

According to South African doctor Moosajee, “Kagiso has been diagnosed with a lower-back stress reaction which will rule him out of cricket action for up to three months,”. “He will need a month”s break from all physical activity before commencing with a rehabilitation programme to get him ready for the series against Sri Lanka in July.”

Under the new captain Gambhir, Delhi Daredevils begin their IPL 2018 campaign against Kings XI Punjab on 8th April.
