The IPL 2020 campaign kicks off on Saturday, September 19 with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings facing off in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of the all-important clash, MS Dhoni is standing on the verge of overtaking AB de Villiers.

Meanwhile, ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle is topping the list of six hitters in the IPL with 326 sixes to his name. The Kings XI Punjab batsmen, aging 40, will spend his second season with the Preity Zinta-owned franchise. He will hope to increase his tally in IPL 2020.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has hit 209 sixes in the IPL so far with De Villiers sitting on 212. The CSK skipper needs four more to pip the former South African cricketer.

MS Dhoni holds the record for most matches in the IPL as captain and also the captain with most wins. He has led CSK in 174 matches as captain and won 110 of them. MSD also has the most dismissals in IPL with 132 victims to his name. He also has the most number of stumpings in IPL history with 38 and counting.

AB de Villiers Ready to Help Virat Kohli

Meanwhile, AB de Villiers is ready with all his might to help Virat Kohli as RCB keep looking for their elusive trophy. He even said that he is ready to chip in with the ball if required.

RCB hasn’t won the IPL even once in the past 12 seasons and that is one stat, that Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers is willing t set right this season. They made it to the IPL finals twice in 2011 and 2016 but unfortunately ended on the wrong side of the result.

The experienced trio of AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel are the three players playing for RCB since the last time IPL was held in the UAE.

Earlier, the cash-rich league was postponed by the BCCI after the outbreak of coronavirus in India. After a lot of permutations and combinations, the BCCI has finally managed to stage the IPL after then ICC postponed the Men’s T20 World Cup to 2021.
