England skipper made a comeback to the IPL as Kolkata Knight Riders roped him in the IPL 2020 auction. His prowess to increase to the run-rate as a middle-order batsman was made KKR keen on buying him. He has also proved his potential by playing a few counter-attacking innings for his side. Alongside Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell, he forms the core of the batting order for KKR.
Meanwhile, speaking to PTI from UAE, Morgan highlighted the impact of English cricketers in the IPL. He said that as compared to the previous seasons more and more English cricketers are now wanting to play in the IPL.
“I think compared to previous seasons, certainly (I) not having played in IPL for a number of seasons, the difference between an England player coming in now and an England player coming seven-eight years ago is even more” said Morgan.

He cited the example of Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler as well. The trio have been an integral part of the Rajasthan Royals outfit for a few years now.
“Because now some of our players who play in that England shirt are sought after players. Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, these guys have genuine chances of becoming MVPs every year,” Morgan further said.

So far, Eoin Morgan has amassed 143 runs in 5 matches at an impressive average of 47.67. With 997 runs in his overall IPL career, he is three short of getting to 1000 runs in the tournament.
His leadership skills is another reason why he is key to KKR’s success in the IPL this year. He is just the perfect man for Dinesh Karthik to fall back on for any help that he needs. KKR’s win over CSK was architectured by the Morgan-Karthik duo as they decided to hold Sunil Narine in the backend.
With nine games still to go for KKR in the league stage, one believes KKR will see the best of captain Morgan playing a massive role in their dream of winning the third IPL title.
