IPL 2020: Gautam Gambhir Explains The Difference Between Virat Kohli And MS Dhoni As Captains

RCB vs CSK Gambhir difference Kohli Dhoni IPL news

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli

Former Indian cricketer and KKR captain Gautam Gambhir in an interaction with the Star Sports Show Cricket Connected, explained the difference between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli as captains. While Dhoni has three IPL titles to his credit, Kohli is yet to get his first one.

Every year before the IPL starts, these two players are the most talked-about leaders as well as individuals in the build-up to the tournament. Speaking about the glaring difference, Gambhir said that Dhoni has retained a set of players. On the other hand, Kohli has shuffled his players which have hurt them badly.

Gambhir explains difference between Kohli and Dhoni

“The biggest difference between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni is that Dhoni persists with his players for 6-7 matches. If you see RCB’s trend, they make changes very quickly because they have a doubt that their Playing XI does not have a proper balance,” Gambhir said.

The former Indian left-hander also kept his opinion on Kohli’s comment of accumulating a balanced squad this season.

“What Virat Kohli has said, when you are happy with your squad as a captain, you would have already planned which playing XI you want to play. If you are satisfied, then the calmness also comes along. Because there are times that you do not come to know your best XI in the entire tournament and that is why you make a lot of changes” Gambhir said.

RCB Looks a Batting Heavy Side- Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir further added saying that the RCB squad looks a bit batting heavy this season as well. He said that the bowlers will at least be happy of not playing seven matches at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium which is one of the best for batting in India.

“I still feel that RCB look a little batting-heavy. But one thing that you will see a little different is that the bowlers will be happy because they will not have to play 7 matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. You will be playing in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which probably have bigger grounds, wickets are not as flat as Chinnaswamy” Gambhir said.

RCB and CSK have played 25 matches till date with CSK winning 16 of them and RCB just 8. One game has ended in no-result.
