Chris Lynn is without a doubt a proven match-winner in T20 cricket. The destructive batsman of Australia has several times shown his class in T20 leagues all around the globe. Ahead of the IPL auction last year the Kolkata Knight Riders decided against retaining Chris Lynn in their squad.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians, in the end, bought Lynn for a winning bid of Rs. 2 crores for the IPL 2020 season. Now, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik has admitted that they had to let go of Lynn with a very heavy heart.

Let Lynn go with a heavy heart – Karthik

Karthik stated that all the KKR team member bonded extremely well with Lynn during IPL. But due to the IPL auctions dynamic, a really tough decision had to be made.

“We had to let go off Lynn with a heavy heart, whatever time he spent with the franchise, he was an absolute gun, so are the dynamics of the auction that you have to let go some players, Lynn is somebody I am fond off, he brings a lot to the table,” Karthik said in a video posted on the official website of the IPL.

Meanwhile, KKR bought England world cup winning captain Eoin Morgan for INR 5.25 crore in the auction. Karthik is keen on sharing the dressing room and learning a trick or two from the successful international captain. The KKR skipper added that Morgan is presently the leader of the best white-ball team in the world and he will surely try to learn from the best.

“Eoin Morgan is there with us for this season, I have met him a couple of times, he is a gem of a guy, being a solid human being is something that everyone looks at, he is a World Cup-winning captain, England is the best white-ball team in the world, I would try to learn from him, he has a great mind,” Karthik said.

The 13th edition of the biggest T20 league will kick off from September 19 in the UAE. All franchises have already landed in the host nation and undergoing their quarantine period. Also, KKR who finished 5th last year in the IPL will again be led by Dinesh Karthik for the second time in his career.
