IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab Appoint Andy Flower As Assistant Coach

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have added former Zimbabwe wicket-keeper batsman Andy Flower to their group of support staffs for the upcoming edition starting from March 29. Flower will replace Sunil Joshi, who was picked as the chairman of the All India men’s selection committee and will assist Anil Kumble in Kings XI’s new coaching setup.

Andy Flower, who has earlier served the England National Cricket Team with distinction will add a lot of value to the squad. His experience will come in handy for the players alongside Anil Kumble. Previously, the Kings XI had also announced that former India batsman Wasim Jaffer and former South African internationals Charl Langeveldt and Jonty Rhodes will serve as the batting, bowling and fielding coaches respectively.

Adrian Le Roux, who has previously worked with the Indian national team, has been appointed as the trainer while Prabhakar B and Sankar Rajgopal will work as a training assistant and R&D consultant. Andrew Leipus has been named as the team physio, assisted by Abhijit Kar and masseuse Naresh Kumar. Ashish Tuli continues as the team analyst of the side for the 11th consecutive year, while former RCB manager Avinaash Vaidhya comes in as the General Manager of Cricket Operations.

Meanwhile, Andy Flower sounded extremely happy with the developments and admitted that he is looking forward to working the legendary Anil Kumble. Speaking of the squad, the former left-handed batsman adjudged that they have a great bunch of players in their ranks and are ready to show what they are capable of.

“I am truly excited to come on board as the assistant coach for Kings XI Punjab and look forward to working with Anil Kumble this edition of the IPL,” Flower said of his appointment. “The team looks great and we have a fantastic line-up and top-notch support staff and we can’t wait to show the world what the Shers are capable of,” he added. 

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab, who continue their hunt for the maiden title will begin their campaign from March 30 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
