In what was a dramatic batting collapse by Sunrisers Hyderabad, they lost their opening game by 10 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai. The SRH vs RCB contest saw SRH lose their last seven wickets for just 32 runs after the loss of Jonny Bairstow for 61 off 43. RCB thus gets a winning start in the IPL 2020 by bagging important two points in the first match.
Chasing a modest target of 164 to win on a good batting wicket, SRH lost their skipper David Warner in the most unfortunate matter when the ball touched off Umesh Yadav’s hand and hit at the non-striker’s end. Manish Pandey then joined Bairstow at the other end as the duo added a 71-stand to bring the Sunrisers innings back on track.

SRH had a grip on the game and looked good to win it when Virat Kohli introduced Yuzvendra Chahal in the attack. First, he dismissed Manish Pandey (34) in the 12 then he came back to dismiss Jonny Bairstow (61) and Vijay Shankar (0) in the 16th over. Those two wickets open the floodgates for the RCB bowlers to make further inroads. That was also the time when the SRH vs RCB contest intensified.
Navdeep Saini then came back to clean up the Sunrisers Hyderabad tail dismissing Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over to dash their hopes of a win. Injured all-rounder Mitchell Marsh though walked out to bat was dismissed in the very first delivery he faced.
Padikkal Fifty Starts The SRH vs RCB Contest
Earlier in the match, Devdut Padikkal scored his maiden IPL fifty in his very first IPL outing. He scored 56 off 42 balls hitting some lusty blows in the process. Virat Kohli (14 off 13)was dismissed cheaply in the middle-overs and then it was the AB De Villiers show.

The former South Africa skipper scored 51 of just 30 balls to help RCB finish on 163 for 5 in their 20 overs. He hit a total of six boundaries in his knock.
The Sunrisers bowlers did well to keep RCB down to a pa total on a flat Dubai wicket after Padikkal’s initial fireworks. Kohli winning this SRH vs RCB contest also completed his revenge in many ways after going down to the same opposition in the 2016 IPL final.
Kohli’s RCB plays the Kings XI Punjab in their next match in Dubai on September 24. SRH, on the other hand, face Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match in Abu Dhabi on September 26.
