Former England skipper Michael Vaughan is fealing the worst for Chennai Super Kings after they went down against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 37 runs in Dubai on Saturday night. This was CSK’s fifth loss in seven games in this IPL season.

This is their worst run in the IPL since 2010, where they lost five matches that season. They later went onto win their maiden IPL title that year, however, this time around it looks a little difficult. CSK are placed in the sixth position in the points table with four points from seven games.

CSK Glorious Years Coming To An End-Michael Vaughan

Meanwhile, the former England skipper took to Twitter, after yet another defeat for CSK this season. “I am afraid the @ChennaiIPL glory years are coming to an end .. #IPL2020,” wrote Michael Vaughan, fearing the worst for the most consistent side in the IPL.

The CSK has made it to the playoffs every season in this tournament. Thrice it won the title as well one short of defending champions Mumbai Indians.

The chase against RCB was yet another occasion when the top-order faltered for CSK. Ambati Rayudu, who came into bat in the fourth over, played with no intent. He stayed till the 18th over of their chase scoring 42 off 40 balls before he was dismissed. MS Dhoni walked into bat at number five and scored 10 of six balls.

Once Rayudu was dismissed eating up 40 deliveries, the chase was always going to be difficult for Dhoni and his lower-order batsmen Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo. CSK ultimately lost the game by 37 runs.

CSK’s next three games are against Delhi (October 13), Hyderabad (October 17) and Rajasthan (October 19) respectively, all three teams against who MS Dhoni and his men have lost their previous games.

Chennai have been into the finals in 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2019. If they fail to make it to the finals this year, it will be the first time in five seasons that the Men in Yellow will not play in the summit clash of the tournament.
