Bad news awaits Delhi Capitals as their star campaigner Rishabh Pant is likely to remain out of action for more than a week. Incidentally, skipper Delhi Capitals mentioned that Pant will miss games for a week but it is likely to get extended now.

Incidentally, Rishabh Pant copped a blow during Delhi’s game against Rajasthan Royals on October 9. He was seen limping after completing a catch to dismiss Varun Aaron off Kagiso Rabada’s bowling. Before that, he was also seen struggling while reaching the wickets to grab the throws from the deep.

Rishabh Pant to be out for more than a week

As a result, the wicket-keeper batsman missed Delhi Capitals game against Mumbai Indians. Alex Carey kept the wicket in place of the India superstar. Speaking at the end of the game, Shreyas Iyer said Rishabh Pant will be out for a week.

“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer had after the five-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians.

However, a report in ANI suggests that Rishabh Pant will miss action for more than just a week. The report also added that he has suffered a Grade 1 tear and is likely to warm the benches for quite some time.

“He has a Grade 1 tear and it is not just a hamstring pull as was believed to be. He is under observation and we hope he gets fit quickly,” ANI quoted a Delhi Capitals source as saying.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will hope that it is not something serious and expect Rishabh Pant to return to action soon. They are currently second in the IPL 2020 points table with 10 points from seven games.

Previously, they have already lost Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma due to injury and will hope that there is no more addition to the list.
