Kolkata Knight Riders play their first game of the season against defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 23, Wednesday in Abu Dhabi. Before the game, KKR players were seen practising hard at the nets, especially their power-hitter Andre Russell.

He and Sunil Narine joined the KKR camp after the recently concluded CPL season. Russell scored over 200 runs in the tournament with two fifties to his name. Thus he will be getting into the game against MI with some form, which is great news for KKR fans.

Andre Russell breaks camera glass

Meanwhile, at KKR’s practice session, Andre Russell broke the camera which was fixed to one of the stumps. Practising his big shots, he hit one straight to the camera, breaking it in the process.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Twitter handle was quick to record the incident and post it on their official account.

“”Oh gosh! That’s SMASHED – wait for the last shot.. #MuscleRussell warming up to his devastating best! @Russell12A #KKRHaiTaiyaar #Dream11IPL”, read the caption of the video which you can watch below.

MI Wary of Andre Russell Factor

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians is one of the two teams to have beaten Kolkata the most number of times in the IPL. Andre Russell fans would be hoping that he can help KKR win both their fixtures against the defending champions this year.

Andre Russell was a one-man show for KKR in IPL 2019. He scored 510 runs at a strike rate of 204.81 including four fifties and 52 sixes to his name last season. He also bagged 11 wickets to go with his runs that he scored for Kolkata.

Russell has expressed his desire to bat up the order for the Knight Riders, to which the team management has also responded positively. KKR coach Brendon McCullum had earlier in an interview to kkr.in said that they would look to send Russell with at least 60 deliveries remaining in the KKR innings.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians got off to a losing start against CSK, keeping their record intact since 2013. They would be wary of the Andre Russell factor and would have plans in place to negate his ability with the bat.
