KKR opener Venkatesh Iyer scored his maiden IPL fifty in just his second IPL game. What makes the knock more special is that it has come against Mumbai Indians and on a winning note. Iyer score 53 off 30 balls and added an opening stand of 40 inside three overs. Venkatesh’s knock helped KKR earn just their seventh victory in IPL history.
Venkatesh Iyer played an unbeaten knock in KKR’s victory over RCB and this knock has come just at the right time for his franchise. Kolkata have thus won two back to back games and. They chased down the target of 156 inside 15 overs and have now entered into the top four. Kolkata won by seven wickets and for the first time against Mumbai since 2019.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Venkatesh Iyer’s maiden fifty
You've got to love franchise cricket. That is where the hidden gems emerge. Iyer has taken on quality international bowlers in Boult and Milne.

Terrific performance by revitalised #KKR. Kept their nerve despite Rohit and de Kock running up fine opening partnership, fought back to restrict #MI to 155, then chased target with sizzling aggression of Iyer & Tripathi. Not seen MI get hammered like this in a long time.

Rohit Sharma looked back at the defeat and said that they want to put this loss behind and look forward to the remaining games.
“Few areas (went wrong). We started really well but didn’t get enough towards the back end. I thought it was a good pitch, we failed to capitalize on the start we got and we didn’t bowl well at the start. I don’t want to look into it too much, things can happen and you have to move on. After a good start we had to get small partnerships but we kept losing wickets at regular intervals, it is not easy for new batters to go in and start hitting the ball. It is something that happened in the last game as well and we will address it. It is always there at the back of the mind on where you stand, we are still in the middle of the table, so we have to get back and fight and hopefully get some wins on the trot.” said Rohit after his side’s loss to KKR.
