Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has pointed out that the Punjab Kings have developed a tendency of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. On Tuesday, the Punjab Kings lost against the Rajasthan Royals by 2 runs.

Their openers laid a solid foundation of 120 runs. However, the middle order faltered, handing them a loss, despite needing just 4 runs off the last over. Rajasthan Royals’ young pacer, Karthik Tyagi, picked up two wickets in the final over, defending 186 runs.

While analyzing the match, in a video shared on Aakash Chopra’s Youtube Channel, he stated:

“The expectation was that they will come back re-energized and rejuvenated but nothing like that happened. But then, it has become a habit of sorts. Haari baazi ko jeetne wale ko baazigar kahte hain, jeete match ko jo haarta hai, usko aaj kal Punjab Kings kahte hain.”

“Does it ever happen that you have an opening partnership of 120 runs, the opposing team drops four catches, you need just four runs in the last over with two set overseas batsmen at the crease, and despite that, you lose the match by two runs,” Aakash Chopra added.

Punjab Kings would be asking themselves, how did they lose it?: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra further questioned the Punjab Kings’ performance in the last match. He added that the KL Rahul-led team will themselves be asking how did they lose the match from the winning position. Aakash Chopra said,

“If your name is Punjab, if something can be done the difficult way, you don’t want to do it easily. In fact, this was the match where you opened your fist and let the match go. How did you do that? They would be asking themselves as well that when the match was in their grip, how did they lose it?”
