Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against Delhi Capitals during Saturday’s tie at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Sharjah. Incidentally, the Capitals thumped the Royals by 33 runs to go on top of the points table.
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was fined ₹24 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate in an IPL 2021 match against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, said BCCI.

“The Rajasthan Royals have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match against Delhi Capitals at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on September 25,” BCCI said.
“As it was the team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was fined ₹24 lakhs,” the release added.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals posted 154 runs banking on Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant’s brilliant third-wicket stand. Shimron Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel also chipped in with useful contributions to took their side to 154 runs.
Delhi bowlers bowled exceedingly well to restrict Rajasthan to 121 runs on a good batting wicket to beat them by 33 runs. Rishabh Pant admitted that they had plans for each and every opposition batsman. Anrich Nortje, player of the match in the last game, once again stood out with the ball, returning with 2/18. Ravichandran Ashwin, Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel chipped in with one apiece.
