Royal Challengers Bangalore face Punjab Kings in a bid to solidify their position at number three and get to 16 points. RCB coach Mike Hesson has said that the franchise have got their plans ready for the opposition and knows their weakness as a side as well. PBKS are still in the hunt for the playoff race after beating KKR in their last game. KKR also take on SRH later tonight in a bid to save their playoff contention. A loss for Punjab and KKR tonight would all but end their playoff hopes.
Mike Hesson reckons RCB are aware of how the KL Rahul-led side operates tactically. In a video shared on RCB’s social media handles, he opined that dealing with their opponent’s counter-attacking approach will be critical.
“We know their players very well from a tactical point of view and how they look to attack certain types of bowlers, but it is all about executions and it is all about the fact that they are very good. There are some very good players there and they will try to counter-attack and we will try and find a way of dealing with it” said the RCB coach.
RCB Ready With Plans For Punjab Kings: Mike Hesson
RCB v PBKS Preview: Game Day
They got the better of us last time around, but Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar reckon we’ve got the firepower and the skills to get over the line in Sharjah today.#PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #IPL2021 #RCBvPBKS pic.twitter.com/pTekmvlNWm

Hesson further said that adapting to the playing conditions is key for the players in Sharjah and they should be quick in assessing the conditions.
“It’s probably equally as important that we adapt to playing at Sharjah. We know the surface and they are not going to get any quicker than they have been. We have got to make sure that we are prepared for that” said Hesson.
RCB batting consultant Sanjay Bangar also said that the batters must assess the conditions rather than focusing on the stats. Scores in Sharjah this year have not been high enough as expected given the ground dimensions. Scores in between 150-160 have proved to be matchwinning ones so far. CSK posted 189 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday which was chased down by the Royals with overs to spare.
“The scores that we are able to set, the scores that we are chasing, taking into account the conditions at all three venues, it has been a very low scoring IPL so far. We have to assess the conditions and that is one of the goals of our batting unit as to take the conditions into the equation and not necessarily go by the stats” said Bangar.
