Crowds are likely to be back in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. As per reports in The Telegraph, the UAE government after a detailed discussion with Emirates Cricket Board and the BCCI has decided to allow 60 percent of the capacity inside the stadium in the remaining matches. The UAE leg gets underway with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians playing the opening game in Dubai. Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore play in the next game in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE leg will host as many as 31 matches across 27 days. Abu Dhabi will host 8 matches, Dubai 13 and Sharjah 10 games. The final will be played in Dubai on October 15. The BCCI postponed the first half of the season after multiple COVID positive cases from different camps in the first half.

As per the percentage, Abu Dhabi will host 12000 fans while its capacity is 20000. Dubai hosts a capacity of 25000 while as per the guidelines it will host 15000 fans. Sharjah, on the other hand, will host 16000 odd fans.

Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the top four teams at the moment. KKR and SRH are the last placed teams at the moment.

Earlier a Cricbuzz report in May stated that crowds will host 50 percent of the fans who are vaccinated. “The vaccinated fans can be allowed up to 50 per cent of the [stadium] capacity,” a UAE board official said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

However, as per the latest development, the percentage have been increased to 60 after a detailed discussion.

The COVID-19 situation in the UAE is lot better, as compared to other countries. In fact, the country has managed to inoculate most of its population. Even then, for fans to attend sporting events in hordes, there will strict regulations.
