Punjab Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in a last-ball thriller to won the match by five runs and keep their playoff chances alive. In the process, they have knocked out SRH from the playoff race with the side losing their eighth game. Nathan Ellis kept his cool and defended 17 off the final over as Jason Holder’s career-best IPL knock was not enough to see his team home. In the end, Punjab’s perseverance paid off.
Punjab Kings finally after a string of losses have found a way to win. The bowlers made a good job of their small target and were able to defend it successfully. Ravi Bishnoi ended up being the Man of the Match picking up 3 for 24.
Jason Holder’s IPL career-best with both bat and ball was not enough to get the job done for his team. None of the SRH batters were able to support Holder and the run-out of Wriddhiman Saha really turned the game for the side.

Holder did his best, but no support at the end out paid to #SRH’s hopes of winning. Punjab will heave a sigh of relief. Almost messed up this match too. What matters is they won and stay alive for a place in the play offs

Punjab’s win has taken them to number five in the points table. Mumbai Indians who started the season at number four have now dropped down to number six in the points table.
KL Rahul was a relieved captain after seeing his team go over the line against SRH. This must come as a big relief for the team after losing a match that they almost won against the Royals.
I hope so, we are playing some entertaining cricket and have been doing for the last two or three years, but I’ll take the win” said KL Rahul.
It was a valiant effort and almost a lone battle from Jason Holder both with bat and ball. He scored a 29-ball 47* after taking three for 19 with the ball earlier.
“Tough loss. At the halfway mark, needing 126, you obviously back yourselves to chase it. We probably left a little too much to get at the end although I did back myself to get those. The stage where I came in, I just had to go for it and it worked. Maybe that’s why it worked. Batters probably weren’t too committal earlier on. Five more games left, need to build some momentum for next season. Fans have been really passionate, we need to keep going for them” said Holder.
