IPL 2021 Watch: RCB Posts Special Tribute Video Ahead Of Virat Kohli’s 200th Game

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli will be playing his 200th IPL game for the franchise later tonight against KKR. the side is in the top four of the points table at the moment heading into this crunch game. Kohli has already announced that hr will step down as the skipper of the franchise after the end of this IPL. 

RCB’s Official Twitter handle posted a special video on Virat Kohli for playing 200 matches with the same franchise. Ever since joining the club back in 2008, Kohli has been their most consistent player. He was given the captaincy responsibilities in 2013. 

“The RCB family congratulates Virat on his 200th IPL match and the ones who have seen him from close quarters tell us what makes him special” the video was captioned. 

Coach Mike Hesson, star player AB De Villiers amongst others congratulated Virat Kohli on his special achievement. RCB pacer Mohammad Siraj also thanked Kohli for motivating all the youngsters around him. The pacer hoped that the champion cricketer would carry on playing with the same mindset in the coming years as well.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s call to step down as RCB captain has received mixed reactions. While some welcomed the move, some criticised it. A few days ago, Virat Kohli also announced of stepping down as India’s T20 skipper after the T20 World Cup in UAE. 

Many are also finding similarities between the two announcements in ways more than one.

“This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me” said Kohli.

Ahead of the start of RCB’s campaign, Kohli has led the Banglore franchise in 132 IPL games. He has won 60 games and lost 65 games. Four games ended in no-result while three games ended in a tie. Kohli’s win percentage over the years has been less than 50 percent.
