India and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Wridhhiman Saha tested positive for the Covid-19 a few days ago while he was taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. He returned a positive result on Tuesday, the day the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) suspended the IPL 2021 until further notice. Apart from Saha, some more players have tested positive for the virus as well. Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, and Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra also tested positive for the virus.
After the BCCI suspended the franchise-based league, the franchises are sending their players back home. Eight English players have reached the United Kingdom on Wednesday morning. While the Australian players will be sent back to Australia after they spend a certain period in the Maldives or Sri Lanka.
The Indian players have started to exit the bubble following the suspension. On a heartwarming note, Saha’s daughter has sent him a sketch wishing him a speedy recovery. In the sketch, Superman is seen fighting against the virus. Saha shared a post on his Twitter handle and captioned it as: “This means the world to me right now Mia sending her wishes…And I thank all of you for your well wishes and messages. My gratitude for you all.”
