Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in search of an ideal captain who will lead the franchise in IPL 2022. The position has been vacant ever since Virat Kohli relinquished his duties after IPL 2021.
Kohli had led RCB for close to a decade, captaining them in 132 matches. He has managed to build a culture in the side despite not winning the trophy.
RCB Squad: Virat Kohli (R), Glenn Maxwell (R), Mohammed Siraj (R), Suyash Prabhudessai, Chama Millind, Aneeshwar Gautam, Karn Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Luvnith Sisodia, David Willey, Faf du Plessis, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Karthik, Josh Hazlewood, Shahbaz Ahmed, Anuj Rawat, Akash Deep, Mahipal Lomror, Fin Allen, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Behrendorff
On that note, let’s take a look at 3 cricketers who can lead RCB in IPL 2022:
#3. Glenn Maxwell
The veteran Aussie all-rounder joined RCB last year and immediately justified his selection chipping in with telling contributions in the middle-order. Maxwell was useful with his off-break breaking partnerships whenever needed.
Having led previously in the BBL and various domestic tournaments, Maxwell is an able candidate to lead the side.
With significant experience under his belt, Maxwell can add a lot of value to the team and could be a suitable candidate to lead RCB for the next few years.
#2. Dinesh Karthik
The veteran wicket-keeper batsman has tons of experience under his belt having led Tamil Nadu and Kolkata Knight Riders in the past.
Karthik, who has represented India in 94 ODIs, 32 T20Is and 26 Tests, was roped in by the Royal Challengers at the auction after Kolkata parted ways with him.
Being a wicket-keeper, the 36-year-old will be a good bet to lead the side in IPL 2022.
#1. Faf du Plessis
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went full-throttle for Faf du Plessis and bagged his services for INR 7 crores in the mega auction. He was earlier part of Chennai Super Kings and was not retained by the franchise ahead of the auction.
The former South African cricketer will be a leading candidate to lead Bangalore in IPL 2022. Faf, who led South Africa in 112 matches across all formats until 2020, brings a lot of experience and could be a perfect bet to guide RCB to their first IPL title.
