The 2022 season of India Premier League (IPL) witnessed several great performances from the overseas pool of players. Players like Liam Livingstone, Tim David, Shimron Hetmyer  entertained cricket fans with their skillset and performance on the field.

However there were few players who had a terrible IPL 2022. Despite regular opportunities, they failed to step up to the task and live up to the expectations. Here in this article we would look at Top 5 Overseas players who flopped in IPL 2022:

5 overseas players who flopped in IPL 2022

5) Dushmantha Chameera ( Lucknow Supergiants)

Dushmantha Chameera

Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera couldn’t perform upto the expectations in IPL 2022. The tall and lanky fast bowler picked up only nine wickets in 12 matches at a bowling average of 42.

Chameera also failed to put control on run rate and leaked runs at an economy rate of 8.75. Lucknow Super Giants lost control over the match on several occasions due to undisciplined bowling of Chameera.

4) Chris Jordan ( Chennai Super Kings)

Chris Jordan

All-rounder Chris Jordan was bought by Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 mega auctions at a price of Rs 3,60,0000. But the veteran English all-rounder didn’t justify the price tag.

Jordan picked up just two wickets in the four matches he played. Jordan also had a horrible economy rate of 10 plus. Eventually, he was dropped from the Chennai Super Kings team midway through in the season.

3) Matthew Wade ( Gujarat Titans)

Matthew Wade

Gujarat Titans wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade too had a terrible 2022 season of Indian Premier League. Even though he won the elusive trophy, he failed to create his impact with the bat.

Wade scored just 157 runs in 10 innings in IPL 2022. He scored these runs at a poor average of 15.7 and a pathetic strike rate of 113 . He failed to live upto the expectations he set after T20 World Cup semifinal against Pakistan last year.

2) Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians)

West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard had a season to forget in IPL 2022. Pollard is one of greatest finishers in the history of IPL but he failed to finish matches in this IPL season. He was retained by Mumbai Indians (MI) but he failed to do justice.

Pollard scored just 144 runs in 11 innings at an average of 14.4. Pollard also had a poor strike rate of 108 in IPL 2022. As a result of poor form, Pollard didn’t play the last three matches for Mumbai Indians.

1) Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain didn’t have a good IPL 2022 with bat. He was returning from Tennis elbow injury in this IPL. He failed to get any sort of momentum in his batting.

Strike rate was a big issue for Williamson this season. The New Zealand skipper managed to score just 216 runs in 13 innings at a poor average of 19 and pathetic strike rate of 93. He couldn’t even cross strike rate of 100 which shows the negative impact he created.
