The eight existing Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises revealed their retention list. A total of 27 players were retained ahead of IPL. With two new Teams set to part of IPL 2022, existing franchisees are set for a complete overhaul.

With a lot of players going into the IPL 2022 auction, there are chances that we might see a few players reunite with their former franchise.

On that note, let’s take a look at 3 players who could return to their former franchise in IPL 2022.

#3 Mitchell Starc (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Mitchell Starc represented Royal Challengers Banglore in two seasons in 2014 and 2015, picking up 34 wickets in 27 matches. The Aussie quick hasn’t Played in the IPL since IPL 2015.

He had not given his name in the auction pool due to injury concerns and wanted to keep himself fit for the Australian team. The last time around when Starc gave his name in the 2018 auction, he was picked by KKR in the auction. But Starc pulled out due to injury.

Having released Ishan Kishan into the IPL 2022 auction, Mumbai Indians will look for an explosive batter and Nitish Rana fits the bill perfectly.

The southpaw from Delhi has played a key role In Mumbai Indians winning IPL 2017, scoring 333 runs at an average of 30.27. Nitish Rana like Ishan Kishan can bat in various positions be it middle order or opening the innings that makes him an apt replacement.

Moreover, Rana Is handy with the Ball can bowl a few overs if required. It won’t be a surprise if Rana dons the Mumbai jersey again.


#1 Ravichandran Ashwin (Chennai Super Kings)

The veteran off-spinner has been released by his former employer Delhi Capitals and will land up in the IPL 2022 auction. There are chances that Ashwin might return to Chennai Super Kings in the next season.

Incidentally, Chennai had identified Ashwin and had picked him in auction He shined in the Chennai jersey and made his way into the Indian side. CSK captain and former India captain MS Dhoni has always backed Ashwin Incidentally, Dhoni was the captain when Ashwin made his international debut. The 41-year-old CSK captain knows Ashwin in and out.

Ashwin is in good form recently picking up 6 wickets in 3 matches in the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE. Ravichandran Ashwin has also expressed his desire to come back to the Super Kings. Speaking on his show 40 shades of Ashwin, the off-spinner said:
