Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Virat Kohli’s poor run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season continued on Sunday. He was dismissed for a golden duck against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium.
Indian actor Ranveer Singh expressed his disappointment as Virat Kohli was dismissed early in the match. The right-hander opened the innings along with skipper Faf Du Plessis. However, his stay at the crease lasted only one delivery.
Virat Kohli flicked the very first delivery of the match off Abhishek Sharma’s bowling, straight into the hands of Kane Williamson. This was Kohli’s third golden duck in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. Ranveer who was in the Star Sports during the match expressed that Kohli was and will always be a great cricketer, despite the recent failures.
“It is quite disappointing to see Virat getting out on a first-ball duck. However, it doesn’t affect his stature,” Ranveer said.
“He was and will always be a great cricketer. I want him to come out of this bad phase soon because I want to see him do well for Team India in the T20 World Cup,” he added.
Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world – Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh further opined that Virat Kohli is one of the best batters in world cricket. He expressed that his third-golden duck was unexpected. Virat Kohli averages 19.64 this season in twelve matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has scored 216 runs at a dismal strike rate of 111.34.
Ranveer stated that he wishes to see the Indian cricketer regain his form, and do well for India in the T20 World Cup. He said, “Virat is one of the best batsmen in the world. It was his third golden duck in TATA IPL 2022, which is completely unexpected. I thought Virat would play a big knock today.”
“He is definitely going through a bad phase but I want this player to be fully recharged before the T20 World Cup so that he regains his prime form for the big tournament,” the Indian actor added.
