Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami has praised skipper Hardik Pandya’s leadership skills in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. This is the first time the all-rounder is leading a franchise in the tournament.

Under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, the Gujarat Titans have done exceedingly well. In a virtual interaction, Mohammed Shami praised Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. He expressed that the all-rounder may be aggressive, but is also calm.

Mohammed Shami revealed that he had advised Hardik to control his emotions on the field. He also added that controlling your emotions is important for a leader. Shami said:

“You have seen how his nature is. He is aggressive but also chill out. I had told him to control his reactions on the ground as the entire world watches cricket. It’s very important for a leader to be like that as he is the head of the family.”

“It’s very important to be sensible and react as per the situation. And he has performed his duties as a skipper extremely well. He has kept the entire unit together. I have noticed many changes in him after he became a captain,” he added.

Really, really proud of the boys – Mohammed Shami after Gujarat Titans qualifies for the playoffs of IPL 2022

Gujarat Titans are sitting at the top of the points table with eighteen points from twelve matches. On Tuesday, they defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs on Tuesday. The Hardik Pandya-led team became the first team to qualify for the playoff stages of the tournament.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Mohammed Shami expressed that it was a great effort. He stated that the team wanted to be ruthless against the Lucknow Super Giants and win the match. Shami said:

“Really, really proud of the boys. It is a great effort to qualify before the 14th game in this league. To be honest, in the last game, we kind of thought that the game was over before it was over. We were always under pressure in all the other games that we won, and we felt that we’d finish off the last game with the kind of batting we had. That was learning we took. We just wanted to be ruthless today, and relax post-game.”
