IPL 2022: “I Teleported Myself To My Father” – Chetan Sakariya Reveals An Emotional Story Behind His ‘Dragon Ball Z’ Celebration

Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Chetan Sakariya has opened up about the reason behind his ‘Dragon ball Z’ celebration. During the Indian Premier League 2022 match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Sakariya pulled off the celebration after dismissing Aaron Finch.

Chetan Sakariya was bought by the Delhi Capitals for a whopping INR 4.2 crores. However, the young pacer could make much of an impact in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He managed to pick up only three wickets in as many matches at an average of 28 and an economy rate of 7.63.

In his debut match for the Capitals, Sakariya dismissed Aaron Finch cheaply on an inswinging delivery and then pulled off a ‘Dragon Ball Z’ celebration.

Recently in a conversation with Sportskeeda, Sakariya opened up about his ‘Dragon Ball Z’ celebration. He shared an emotional story, expressing that the celebration was dedicated to his late father. Chetan Sakariya said:

“The day I played and dismissed Aaron Finch, I did that Dragon Ball Z celebration. Whenever the character did that, he used to get teleported to wherever he wanted. So I too teleported myself to my father and told him that look I have got an international player out. So that was really unique for me.”

Chetan Sakariya also recalled the time when his father used to tease him about not considering the pacer as a good bowler until he dismisses an International player. He said,

“Since I wasn’t a part of the playing XI, I began to feel very lonely. I used to have sleepless nights and used to miss my father a lot. He used to tease me at times by saying that he would consider me a good bowler only if I dismiss an international player.”

Saurashtra will produce a lot of players in the IPL – Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya is representing the Zalawad Royals in the ongoing Saurashtra Premier League (SPL). He expressed that there abundance of talented youngsters in Saurashtra, who are capable to make it big. Sakariya added that in the coming years, the team will produce a lot of IPL players.

“There is a lot of young talent that’s coming through from Saurashtra, especially fast bowling all-rounders. There is still a bit of time as they are U19 and U23 players. But definitely, Saurashtra will produce a lot of players in the IPL,” said Chetan Sakariya.

Recently, Chetan Sakariya bowled a triple wicket maiden over against the Halar Heroes in the Saurashtra Premier League. He has scalped four wickets in as many matches in the tournament at an average of 29.00 and an economy rate of 8.29. The Zalawad Royals are at the top of the table with two wins from four matches.
