In twelve matches, Umran has taken eighteen wickets at an average of 22.05 and has an economy rate of 9.02. His wicket tally includes a five and a four wicket-haul.
Former cricketer Sourav Ganguly has also praised the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer. He has expressed that he won’t be surprised if Umran makes it to the national team. He added that the Indian team needs to be careful with the right-arm pacer. Ganguly stated to Mid-day,
“How many can bowl at 150 km? Not many. I won’t be surprised if he gets picked for the national team. We have to be careful in using him, though. Umran is the fastest. I also like Kuldip Sen. Also, T Natarajan has made comeback. We will have Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Finally, it is up to the selectors.”
Very happy to see the dominance of bowlers – Sourav Ganguly
The former Indian cricketer further highlighted the dominance of the bowlers in the Indian Premier League. He added that the spinners have done a great job in the tournament. So far, Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the bowling charts, with Wanindu Hasaranga at the top spot.
“I’m very happy to see the dominance of the bowlers. The wickets in Mumbai and Pune are very good and they are extracting good bounce. The spinners are bowling well besides the speed merchants,” said Sourav Ganguly.
