The IPL 2022 retentions will take place on November 30. All 8 franchises have been asked to finalise the players they want to retain. All the names will be revealed later tonight. Meanwhile, as per reports in ESPN Cricinfo. KKR are unlikely to retain Shubman Gill while Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to release Rashid Khan. Both the players were synonymous with their franchise since the last few years and have made sizeable contributions to their success.

Shubman Gill was being as the next potential captaincy candidate for the side who have been grooming him since 2018. He was drafted into the side after India won the 2018 U-19 World Cup with Gill playing a key role in India’s success.

Rashid Khan, on the other hand, was SRH’s most successful bowler since the time he joined them in 2017. He has picked 93 wickets since joining the side and was the linchpin of their bowling attack. Reportedly, Rashid is unhappy with the fact that the franchise did not choose him as the first choice retention. SRH retained Kane Williamson as their first choice pic which made Rashid unhappy.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the franchise is set to retain Kane Williamson as the skipper and wants to slot the Kiwi as their first retention. Meanwhile, the difference between the salaries of the first and the second choice players is 4 crores.

Meanwhile, the BCCI have also complained against KL Rahul and Rashid saying both the players were approached by the Lucknow franchise. Reports have come out both Rahul and Rashid have been approached to quit their respective franchises.

A BCCI official said that the board is going to take strict action against both the players if the charges pressed against them are found to be true.

“We haven’t received any letter but we have received a verbal complaint from two franchises about players poaching by Lucknow team. We are looking into it, and we will take appropriate action if it proves to be true,” said a BCCI official according to Inside Sport.
