The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most exciting T20 leagues with a perfect blend of cricketing action and pure entertainment. While the cricketers are used to grabbing headlines with their performances but nowadays players are stealing attention with unique celebrations.

Players have their own way of celebrating things. Whether it be a century, a five wicket haul or even a stumping. Players tend to over celebrate sometimes or try to replicate a popular celebration. In IPL 2022, we have seen some popular celebrations and would be looking at the top 5 celebrations we have seen this IPL.

1) Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has become an Indian star bowler in the past two years and has been taking wickets for Team India and the RCB at crucial stages. He has a lethal action and can trouble the batsman with his swinging deliveries that can come inside or go outside as well. He has also recently improved his death bowling which was a cause of concern earlier.

Siraj after taking a wicket has a unique celebration. Siraj unfurled Ronaldo’s ‘Siuu’ celebration, which once again caught the attention of fans on social media. Siuu in Spanish means “Yes” and this celebration was started when Cristiano Ronaldo was back at Real Madrid.

2) Wanindu Hasaranga

Hasaranga is one of the best mystery spinners in world cricket right now. Royal challengers Bangalore had purchased him for over INR 10 crores and showed faith in him. He has repaid the faith that was instilled in him and showed us why he is the best in the business.

In his first game for RCB, he took four crucial wickets and ensured his side won because of him. He did a unique celebration as well after the wicket and he said that it was inspired by popular football player Neymar JR.

“My favourite footballer is Neymar and that is his celebration which I do. When I go play, I don’t take any pressure. That’s why I feel I got success,” Hasaranga said when asked about the unique celebration.

3) Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is having a near to perfect season till now. He was having a tough period in the IPL as well as when he was selected in the Indian team. He has been taking wickets for KKR regularly and has showed the world why he is still one of the best in the business in terms of fast bowling.

During the IPL 2022 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, it was Kolkata pacer Umesh Yadav who celebrated like a footballer. As soon as the 34-year-old picked up a wicket, he rolled out a celebratory style resembling French footballing sensation and FIFA World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe. As soon as he did the celebration, the videos of both Umesh and Mbappe doing it went viral.

4) Dwayne Bravo

Bravo, Dance and celebrations is a near perfect trio and has been since a very long time. Even though, Bravo hasn’t been the same that we knew since childhood but he has been the same death bowler or has improved his death bowling skills a lot. He has been taking regular wickets at the death and sometimes in the middle to give his side a winning opportunity.

In the curtain raiser between CSK and KKR, Bravo got the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer and did a unique celebration. While CSK rejoiced at the southpaw’s dismissal, it was Dwayne Bravo’s dance that stood out. The two-time T20 World Cup winner was seen rotating his index finger mid-air and also swinging the hips with the right hand.

5) Yuzvendra Chahal

Veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is having a redemption campaign this season. He is the Purple Cap holder and is the only one to take a hat-trick in this IPL. He is spinning the bowl a lot and is doing the batsman with his tricks and skills.

His celebrations are also pretty varied and one that can be only done by him. Speaking about the celebration, the 31-year-old Chahal said that it was the one that he tried to create from a viral meme that emerged during the 2019 World Cup where he was spotted sitting casually along the boundary rope with his sunglasses on.
