Here we look at the 3 Areas of concern for CSK after the RR match

  1. Middle Order

Chennai Super Kings is a big worry going ahead of the tournament. Ajiyanka Rahane continued his form where he left from the Mumbai Indians encounter. He showed intent in taking on the spinners and pace bowlers.

Devon Conway looked impressive but could not kick on for a big score. The likes of Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, and Moeen Ali did not contribute much which resulted in too much. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were at their best taking almost Chennai Super Kings to an impossible win.

If Chennai Super Kings need to do well their middle order should perform consistently as the tournament moves on.

  1. Mahesh Theekshana performance

Chennai Super Kings is known to help the spinners a lot and create trouble for the opponent bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of bowlers for Chennai Super Kings with 2 wickets giving away just 21 runs in his 4 overs.

Theekshana was included in the playing XI for yesterday’s match. The Sri Lankan spinner had a disappointing outing for CSK giving away 42 runs in his 4 overs and did not pick any wickets.

He needs to perform well for Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming matches if the team management decides to pick him in the playing XI.

  1. Injury to Sisanda Magala

Chennai Super Kings has been dealt another major blow as Sisanada Magala has been ruled out for the tournament for at least 2 wickets. He injured himself after attempting a catch and split his right hand and suffered split webbing.

Magala bowled decently enough giving away just 14 runs in his 2 overs. He struggled with his injury and went off the field. It is a big blow for Chennai Super Kings as they are injury issues as Ben Stokes, Deepak Chahar, and MS Dhoni are suffering from injuries.

Chennai Super Kings will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 17 April.
