Ben Stokes, an all-rounder for England, has suffered an injury setback and will be sidelined for a week, according to Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming.

Stokes, one of CSK’s most expensive players in IPL history, had only appeared in Chennai’s first two games. Stokes will sit out for a week and has already missed four games.

“He (Stokes) suffered a minor setback yesterday, so he will likely be out for a few days or a week. In the post-game press conference after CSK’s April 21 victory over SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets, Fleming said, “This is a challenge, but the team is playing well.”

“The first requirement is that he be healthy, and if we run into problems with selection, that’s just how the IPL works. His fitness is our top priority. He’s not quite ready yet, but we’ll worry about that part once he is. ”

Fleming also gave an update on captain MS Dhoni, who has been recovering from a knee injury since the IPL 2023. Dhonis are “managing his injury well,” according to the CSK coach, and there is no cause for concern.

“MS is doing just fine. His injury is being well-managed by him. He is readily available. He always puts the team first. If he were aware that his injury prevented him from participating, he would have stayed home. He poses no threat, according to Fleming.”

Deepak Chahar and Sisanda Magala are just two of the many injured players for the Chennai Super Kings this season. While Magala is recovering from a split webbing, CSK lost Chahar to a hamstring injury. Pacer Simarjeet Singh, who missed nearly the entire previous domestic season, is also making a full recovery.
