Gujarat Titans pacer Mohit Sharma found it tough to sleep after their loss against the Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 Indian Premier League final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He was hit by Ravindra Jadeja for ten runs off the final two deliveries to secure a five-wicket win and clinch the title.

Mohit Sharma performed exceedingly well throughout the tournament and finished as the second-leading wicket-taker. He took 27 wickets in fourteen matches, with two four wicket-hauls and a fifer in the season. However, his last over against Chennai Super Kings in the final gave him a sleepless night.

Needing thirteen runs off the final over, Mohit conceded only three runs in the first four deliveries. However, a six and a boundary in the last two deliveries by Ravindra Jadeja took the Super Kings home.

“I couldn’t sleep. Sochta raha kya alag karta joh match jeet jaate (Kept wondering what I could do differently that we would have won). What if I could have bowled this ball or that ball? It’s not a nice feeling now. Somewhere something is missing but I’m trying to move on,” said Mohit Sharma to the Indian Express.

I tried, I tried my best: Mohit Sharma

Gujarat Titans bowler Mohit Sharma expressed that he tried his best to defend ten runs off the last two deliveries against the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2023 Indian Premier League. He revealed that he planned to bowl a yorker, but it did not land well and was hit for a boundary.

“I ran and tried to bowl (yorker) again. I just wanted to be focused and back myself. Whole IPL I have done that. The ball landed where it shouldn’t have and Jadeja got his bat. I tried, I tried my best,” stated Mohit Sharma.

“My mind was very clear in what I wanted to do. In the nets, I had practiced such situations and I have been in such scenarios before too. So I said let me bowl all balls yorkers and was backing my instinct,” he added.
