IPL 2023: David Warner Releases A Shocking Statement After Winning First Match For DC

David Warner

David Warner, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, is frustrated with his team’s lack of success at the plate and says he “cannot tell people how to bat.”

David Warner, the captain of the Delhi Capitals in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), is upset about his team’s struggles at the plate

He claims that he “cannot tell people how to bat.” On April 20, in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in New Delhi, Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Mitchell Marsh continued to struggle with the bat. Their target was 128. While Warner played aggressively, he attributed his low strike rate to the quick wickets that fell.

“Since you have to trust your abilities and I can’t guide people on how to bat, we don’t really have many interactions.” David Warner said in the post-match press conference after DC won their first game after suffering five straight losses, “You have to actually work it out.”

“If you’re going to play against bowlers who can bowl at 150 kph, you need to have the technique and method to score, and if they keep coming at you and bowling into your ribs, you need to find a way to score.”

Warner went on to say that because it is a “reaction skill” in a game, practising against short balls is challenging. With 11 home runs, Warner hit 57 off of 41. The Australian was holding one end, but he had to slow down because of the dismissals at the other end.

Delhi Capitals dragged out the game until the very last over, but Axar Patel finally helped DC cross the finish line. With two points from six games, DC is firmly entrenched at the bottom of the IPL standings.

Even in Australia, we don’t practice short-pitch balls because it’s so challenging to practice in the nets. I believe you would be hesitant if you continuously practised the short ball in play. It requires quick thinking, and you must keep in mind that the bowlers will only throw one short ball in this format, which is advantageous for the batsman, according to Warner.

The following matchup is on April 24 between Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad.
