Viacom 18s OTT platform Jio Cinema acquired the digital rights for the Indian premier league 2023 for a whopping 23,758 crore last year.
Viacom 18 announced that just like the first edition of the Women’s premier league, the Indian premier league 2023 will also be telecasted for free on Jio Cinema. In the very first match of the Indian Premier League between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, millions logged into Jio Cinema to catch up on the live action.
Fans were given a view of the match from different angles to nourish their experience. Jio cinema expected different suggestions for the experience of the fans which didn’t turn out positive for jio cinema. However, Fans took to social media to express their grievance about jio cinema.

The previous editions of the Indian premier league were telecasted on Hotstar. Disney lost the streaming rights for the richest cricket league in the world to its competitor Viacom. Disney OTT platform Hotstar telecasted 5 editions of the Indian premier league from 2017-2022.
Fans were not able to experience multiple camera angles before in Hotstar, on jio cinema, it was a different sort of an experience for fans all over the world, but this did not turn out as expected for IPL fans. Now the users and fans are desperate to get a good experience on jio cinema for IPL.
