Gujarat Titans finally get their revenge against Kolkata Knight Riders. Gujarat Titans beat KKR by 7 wickets with 2 overs left. Andre Russell scored 34 in 19 balls but was not happy with 179 in 20 overs. Birthday boy Russell took 1 wicket in 3 overs but that wasn’t enough for KKR to win.

Gujarat Titans were in a spot of bother when they lost Hardik and Gill, but Miller and Manohar kept the tempo going. Gujarat Titans are at top of the points table with 12 points. Suyash Sharma dropped Miller and that proved costly for KKR.

Kolkata Knight Riders failed to defend 180 and leaked 24 in the 17th over. Gujarat Titans never looked out of chase after Vijay Shankar smashed Chakaravarthy for 24 runs. Gurbaz scored 81 in 39 balls.

Problems increase for Kolkata Knight Riders after GT loss

Kolkata Knight Riders are 7th in the points table. Gujarat Titans have lost only 1 match while chasing in IPL. “Feeling good. I think looking at the scoreboard I’m not that happy but we have good bowlers. This looks like a 190-200 wicket, we are maybe short. We just need to bowl to our plans,” Andre Russell said after 1st innings.

“I’m backing each and every bowler and myself with the ball. (On playing at Eden) Means a lot, the love I get from the fans is crazy when I’m in Kolkata. This franchise is like family to me,” Russell added. Andre Russell went on to say that KKR has done more for him than his country.

Andre Russell is with the KKR franchise since 2014. Since then, he has been an integral part of the team. He has been the architect for KKR in many wins. KKR brought Russell in the 2014 auction for just 60 lakhs. The West Indian power hitter won IPL in 2014 with KKR. Andre Russell was unhappy after Suyash Sharma dropped Miller.
