IPL 2023: Harbhajan Singh Applauds Varun Chakravarthy For Bowling Confidently Under Pressure

Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, praised Varun Chakaravarthy for maintaining composure under pressure and adhering to his game plan against SRH in the IPL 2023 match. However, Varun Chakravarthy bowled with tight lines, according to the veteran.

In the final over, Chakravarthy successfully restricted nine runs and KKR defeated SRH by five runs.

By reducing SRH to 54/4 in 6.2 overs, KKR hampered their 172-run chase. For the fifth wicket, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram forged a crucial 70-run partnership. Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy, however, dismissed the batters who were set, regaining control of the game for KKR. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Abdul Samad and kept SRH within 166/8, requiring SRH to score nine runs in the final over.

And, then Chakravarthy did exceptionally well in the final over and received praise from Harbhajan Singh and KKR captain Nitish Rana.

”Varun Chakravarthy bowled tight lines against SRH throughout the final overs”, said Harbhajan Singh in a Star Sports interview. “In the final over, he adjusted his angle and exuded confidence to hold off 8 runs.”

Nitish Rana’s leadership in handing the ball to Varun Chakravarthy was commendable. The Player of the Match Varun Chakravarthy also admitted that despite his heart rate reaching 200, he didn’t let that distract him from his strategy as well.

“My heart rate was definitely over 200 [beats per minute], but I just wanted to challenge them on the longer end, so that was my plan. My best bet was the longer side because the ball was slipping a lot. I was thinking exclusively of that,” Varun Chakravarthy admitted to the broadcaster.

“Markram played some amazing shots, and my first over went for 12. The game is played in this way. Maintaining involvement in the process is crucial. I may have a tendency to lose control once my emotions start to take over and forget my process.

I was bowling at a speed of about 85 kph last year. And I returned experimented with various things before realizing that as my revolutions decreased, so did my speed. Therefore, I worked on my revisions, which is really helpful,” he concluded.
