Mumbai Indians pacer Akash Madhwal heaped praise on teammate Suryakumar Yadav who is in terrific form in the ongoing 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). Suryakumar Yadav slammed his maiden IPL century against the Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 13 at the Wankhede Stadium. He powered the franchise to their seventh win of the season.

Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 103 off just 49 deliveries, at a strike rate of 210.2. He smashed eleven boundaries and six sixes. The swashbuckling cricketer left everyone impressed with his batting performance. Speaking about the Mumbai Indians batter, pacer Akash Madhwal said,

“Bowling to him is very difficult. I have bowled to pretty good batters but Suryakumar Yadav happens to be someone extraordinary. The shots he practices in the nets come off as it is when he plays them on the field. So it is very difficult to bowl to him.”

The pacer further expressed that Suryakumar Yadav practices his 360° shots during the practice sessions. He added that he hasn’t seen any batter having such a range of shots. Akash Madhwal said,

“Even in the practice matches, he pulls off these kinds of shots out of nowhere. The best thing about these shots as a bowler during practice matches is that they seem gorgeous. Haven’t seen anyone bat like him yet.”

We bowled with the intention of choking them for runs at the start: Akash Madhwal

The Mumbai Indians pulled off a dominating performance against the Gujarat Titans. They scored 218 runs batting first, and then defended it, winning by 27 runs. Talking about their bowling strategy, Akash Madhwal expressed that they did not want to leak runs early on putting pressure on the opponent. He said,

“There was plenty of dew and it was especially difficult to bowl slower balls. Our plan was pretty simple against Titans. We bowled with the intention of choking them for runs at the start. So I stuck to my strength, which is bowling hard lengths throughout my spell of four overs.”
