IPL 2023: Michael Vaughan Says Virat Kohli Doesn’t Think Boundaries Enough

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has noticed a gap in Kohli’s batting despite his swashbuckling performance. The IPL is on fire once again thanks to Virat Kohli. In the Orange Cap list for the IPL 2023, Kohli is currently ranked second with 333 runs from eight games, including five half-centuries.

When it comes to Kohli, this season has been a renaissance for a player who struggled greatly and appeared to be seriously out of shape last year.

Despite his gallant play, Michael Vaughan, a former England captain has noticed a weakness in Kohli’s batting.

Having cleared up the confusion, the former RCB captain is only 8 runs short of his season total from the previous year after a little more than half the number of games. Kohli appears to be on track for a thrilling finish to the season with at least six more games remaining, but the 973 barrier still appears to be a formidable obstacle to overcome.

Additionally, Kohli has captained RCB in its last three games in place of the injured Faf du Plessis, showing flashes of his previous leadership and batting prowess.

He believes that even though Kohli has been nothing short of sensational this year, the RCB star batsman holds himself back when it comes to playing a little more aggressive cricket after the Powerplay is over.

After RCB’s 21-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli anchored his innings rather than keeping up his tempo the entire time.

“I will tell you what. Virat playing against spin would be interesting to watch. Because Virat’s strike rate changes, many teams will bowl spin against him.”

Since most teams will bowl spin against Virat Kohli, I believe the number is around 107 against spin. He’s going to knock it into the three that they’ll put on the boundary. He should dance down and stomp one out of the ground, please.

“He can hit sixes, and that alone makes me believe he is that good. After the six, his strategy in 20-over cricket is to virtually stay there until the 18th over. He isn’t thinking about boundaries enough in my opinion,” Vaughan said.

As the RCB began to lose wickets in rapid succession. Kohli was forced to lead the game-changing 201-run chase. Vaughan believes Kohli has the six-hitting ability that should allow him to let loose.
