Delhi Capitals have been dealt another major blow as their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will not feature in the next few matches of IPL 2023 due to his marriage. They began this edition of IPL with two successive losses against Lucknow Super Giants in the opening encounter by 50 runs at Lucknow and then lost to Gujarat Titans by six wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
Mitchell Marsh was a part of the playing XI in both of the Delhi Capitals matches so far. He looked out of the sort in both matches dismissed without opening his account against Lucknow Super Giants and then only scored 4 runs against Gujarat Titans in their next match. Marsh picked up the wicket of Vijay Shankar in the second match to provide the breakthrough.
“The idea was for him to start bowling from the India ODI series. But that got delayed. I think he bowled fantastically the other day. He will slot straight back when he gets back,” Hopes added.
It will be a big blow for Delhi Capitals who would be looking to open their account against Rajasthan Royals at Basapara Stadium, Guwahati on 8 April 2023.
Delhi Capitals need star players to get going
Delhi Capitals batters need their star players including David Warner, and Prithvi Shaw provide a flying start to the team and put pressure on the bowlers with their aggressive intent. Rovman Powell might come to replace Mitchell Marsh for tomorrow’s match.
DC has a negative run rate of – 1.073. Prithvi Shaw has looked ordinary so far with contributions of 12 against Lucknow Super Giants and then 7 against Gujarat Titans. If Delhi Capitals need to get a win, Prithvi Shaw and David Warner should make use of the field restrictions and let the likes of Rilee Rossouw and other batters play attacking strokes.
Axar Patel needs to come up higher in the order as he looked in good touch against Gujarat Titans. They need an all-around effort against Rajasthan Royals.
Delhi Capitals will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 15th April after tomorrow’s match.
